On September 18, 2017, Global Friends, Tse Foundation and World Climate Ltd launched the Climate Action Pledge (CAP) during Climate Week NYC. The Climate Action Pledge mobilises key stakeholders to engage a larger number of foundations and philanthropists in strategic grant making and bold investments that can help reverse global warming and support a greener future.
Focusing on strategic grant making, philanthropic climate action and collaboration, some speakers at the launch event included Mary Robinson, President, Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice, Laurence Tubiana, CEO, European Climate Foundation, Hakima El Haite, UN Global Champion for Climate Action, Terry Tamminen, CEO, Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, Joanna Messing, Executive Director, Growald Family Fund, Fred Boltz, Managing Director, The Rockefeller Foundation and Ivan Tse, President, Tse Foundation.
The outcome of the Climate Week NYC launch event is the Climate Action Pledge (CAP), which aims to double the philanthropic contribution to climate action. World Climate Ltd will bring CAP and its engaged stakeholders to our solutions platform, World Climate Summit. Taking place from 14-16 November in Bonn, Germany during the COP23 talks, global leaders will engage in a wider range of climate action initiatives and utilise philanthropy as a necessary component to reverse global warming.
